I was recently given the opportunity to write some articles for JustLinkBuilding.com At the time I had no previous experience in doing these types of articles so this was a new and exciting way to focus my time and develop my writing skills.
The challenge was to write a few informative and thoughtful articles on topics related to their client portfolio, each article had to be interesting and descriptive. The articles are focused around certain key words. My understanding is that these key words are tied to certain brands and websites in the UK. When people are looking for a certain product or service they type in keywords into their search engine and potentially they will come across my articles. From these articles they are subtly lead to the client’s website, via the hyperlinks which are then placed into my articles. It is like a chain which guides them to the product of service which they are looking for in a more natural manner.
I found this whole concept rather fascinating. You could compare it to shopping in a supermarket; the stores are designed and laid out in such a way that we are guided towards the products that we purchase without even realizing it.
The keywords that i was given to write on were all linked to experiences or products that we use in everyday life. This meant that I could have the freedom to write about my personal experiences and express my own options on these topics. With no set guidelines or restrictions there was no right or wrong answer. I had the freedom to write as I pleased. At first I struggled a little to get started. I was thinking too much about the structure of the articles and how I would plan them out. I decided let go of all these restrictions and just started writing. This is when, I found the words just flowed out naturally and before I knew it I had written my first 680 word article. I was rather proud of my achievement. Now it was time to get on with the rest.
It was a rather liberating feeling knowing that I could have my say on a product or service and that people all over the UK would be reading these articles and relating to my experiences. I think people prefer to hear about the experiences and opinions of everyday people like myself as opposed to endless, pointless sales pitches. It is a unique way of promoting businesses online and I think that I could myself be suseptible to the link building companies process and services from my insider knowledge gained from my experiences here!
